Tráfico de migrantes y terrorismo: Un vínculo infundado

La amenaza del crimen organizado transnacional constituye una de las principals preocupaciones en la arena internacional. Este artículo, sustentado en la realización de entrevistas cualitativas a 133 traficantes de migrantes que operan en la frontera México-Estados Unidos, tiene como objetivo examinar si las redes de tráfico de migrantes que operan en México conducen terroristas hasta Estados Unidos. Este artículo concluye que, aunque la mitad de los entrevistados pensaban que los terroristas podrían llegar hasta Estados Unidos utilizando las redes de tráfico de migrantes, ninguno tenía conocimiento directo sobre el paso de terroristas a través de la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos, y los datos recabados indican que es improbable que puedan establecerse alianzas entre los traficantes de migrantes mexicanos y los grupos terroristas.
