El fuero en México Entre inmunidad e impunidad

El fuero es un instrumento legal que confiere inmunidad procesal a determinados actores políticos, concebido para evitar abusos entre esferas de poder; no obstante, en los últimos años este instrumento ha sido considerado un sinónimo de impunidad. Para explorar la relación entre fuero e impunidad, analizamos el marco legal de esta inmunidad en México y otros 30 países, para detectar sus diversas modalidades, así como a qué funcionarios protege, contra qué delitos y en qué consiste el proceso para retirarlo. Encontramos que México otorga una de las inmunidades más amplias a un número relativamente alto de funcionarios y que únicamente ha sido retirado en ocho ocasiones de 1917 a la fecha.
