Abstract

How are resources distributed through the La Escuela es Nuestra program? The purpose of this article is to examine whether the selection of beneficiary schools was guided by the program’s design criteria or influenced by political biases. To conduct this analysis, we use a census-based dataset of public schools in Mexico and logistic regression models. The evidence suggests that the federal government indeed allocates resources in line with the program’s equity criteria, while also favoring schools 1) located in states holding elections and 2) situated in municipalities governed by the opposition but within states controlled by the ruling party.
