Abstract

This work briefly revises the literature on Mexivan elections in recent years in order to explore the possible relation between the political significance of electoral processes, and the number and approches of these studies. Each stage in the long history of the PRI regime corresponds to a certain level of interst or concern which is reflected in teh subjects lierature. When the elections had only a symbolic importance, they were barely mentioned and were described as a mere ritual to cover an uncompetitive regime with the facade of legitimacy.
